Round Pen Extension/Rosie the Flirt

Today was a big day.

Our John Lyon's round pen was extended. When we first put it up the round pen we couldn't fit five panels in because of the trees and hilly areas around it. So today, my dad and our neighbor moved dirt and leveled out the round pen area so that the extra five panels could fit.

Yay! Now all of the panels but one fit in.

One the other hand.....
When Rosie comes into season, she goes nuts. Our neighbors brought their gelding down from Michigan last month, and since last week Rosie has gone crazy. She paces in the pen, whinnying to him, and won't eat her food so that she can watch him out in the pasture. She will gallop along the fence line when she is out in the pasture, and will kick Half Pint (even though Rosie is lower on the totem pole) if she gets to close to Vegas (the gelding).

This afternoon he was out again after Rosie and Half Pint got their bathes.....

.....and she was at it again. It is actually very amusing.

Rosie's Birthday/ New Pen/ No Stella

Hello everybody!

I am sorry I haven't posted in the past few days, but many things have happened. More will be posted about  my busy life later.

Yesterday was Rosie's birthday. She turned eleven. To celebrate, I decided to make her a nice bran mash. Of course, Half Pint had to enjoy it as well, so I also made some for her.

Molasses, bran, carrots, apples, and warm water completed the yummy treat.
Waiting patiently.....well...kind of.

Rosie loved her bran mash. So did Half Pint!

Anyway, since I am getting a horse (though probably NOT Stella) soon, my dad and I have been working on a separate pen for the minis to stay in so that the horse will have the one that the minis are currently occupying.

 The new pen.
This will be a 8x12 shelter for them. It will have dutch doors and one or two windows.
The dutch door will be on the left side of this picture here.

Here comes the sad part of this blog post.

I got a call from Mrs. June a few days ago. She told me that Mrs. Tia found Stella's injury record and was shocked. Stella has had injections in her hocks and chiropractic appointments, and last year even after injections and four chiropractic appointments, Stella still had lameness. So, long story short, she has major back pain because of her hock issues, and she (unless the upcoming vet apportionment mentions something else that we can do) is pretty much non ride-able without pain, and even though she could be put on painkillers, you could never guarantee that you could ride for a long period of time.  So, (unless the vet says something else) their is about a 90% chance I will NOT get Stella.

Oh well. I guess the horse hunt continues!

A Clean Barn

Yesterday I decided to clean the barn. I spent a total of FOUR HOURS straightening, dusting, sweeping, polishing, and pulling. But I loved it. :)

A Clean Barn. (Note: the flash was on for these pictures).

 Tack and cleaning room. Clean!

The tack-up area. Clean!

Miniature horse harness.

I was so happy it was clean that I waited for my dad to get home from work for two hours. I sprinted to him the minute he rolled into the driveway, so I could show him my work.

he was very pleased.

I think the mini's are too.

Hopefully I will post about something model-horse related soon.
