Etchie In Progress....

I have been working on this guy inconsistently for about six months. He was the 2003 War Admiral in the Man O' War mold. He had some bad rubs, and for him to be photo-show quality, I had to go ahead and etch him. He is IN PROGRESS, only being about 60% done. Here are some pictures of the pretty(ish) boy:

I will be finishing edges, adding more white, and mapping. He should be finished by the end of the week.

Rosie's Birthday/ New Pen/ No Stella

Hello everybody!

I am sorry I haven't posted in the past few days, but many things have happened. More will be posted about  my busy life later.

Yesterday was Rosie's birthday. She turned eleven. To celebrate, I decided to make her a nice bran mash. Of course, Half Pint had to enjoy it as well, so I also made some for her.

 Molasses, bran, carrots, apples, and warm water completed the yummy treat.

Waiting patiently.....well...kind of.

Rosie loved her bran mash. So did Half Pint!


Anyway, since I am getting a horse (though probably NOT Stella) soon, my dad and I have been working on a separate pen for the minis to stay in so that the horse will have the one that the minis are currently occupying.

 The new pen.

 This will be a 8x12 shelter for them. It will have dutch doors and one or two windows.

 The dutch door will be on the left side of this picture here.

Here comes the sad part of this blog post. 


I got a call from Mrs. June a few days ago. She told me that Mrs. Tia found Stella's injury record and was shocked. Stella has had injections in her hocks and chiropractic appointments, and last year even after injections and four chiropractic appointments, Stella still had lameness. So, long story short, she has major back pain because of her hock issues, and she (unless the upcoming vet apportionment mentions something else that we can do) is pretty much non ride-able without pain, and even though she could be put on painkillers, you could never guarantee that you could ride for a long period of time.  So, (unless the vet says something else) their is about a 90% chance I will NOT get Stella.

Oh well. I guess the horse hunt continues!

Taking "Heza" for a stroll.

Today I was going to take pictures for the final MEPSA show before the championship show. But today was extremely dreary and rainy, so I improvised and decided to just not worry about in scale background, but instead take some pictures with the green foliage of May. Heza Copper Cowboy was the attendee. I have been calling him "Heza" for short. I know that is kind of odd, because Heza, is short for "He's a", but it has stuck. So, lets get to the pictures!

 It seems that Heza wanted to see a friend (I went and got another horse for the "two horse" shots).

I am sorry that this is a kind of....odd post, and that all of the scenes are incredibly out of scale, but I find it all still very beautiful. I guess it is better than no post at all!

Rosie's Training Part 2

Trick Training


So, I have been teaching Rosie some trick training. At first, I used a small wooden bird house that was upside down for her to step on, but then she got so good that I have been using a big, rubber tub for her to stand on. I am also teaching her to "smile", "bow", "lay down", as well as saying "yes", and "no." Hopefully, after some time I will teach her to rear on command. Here are some pictures of her recent "show."

I think that she likes the tub better!

She got so good that I have taken her lead rope off and just by saying "go and step up", she will get on the tub on her own!

She likes to stand there, and sniff the tub. Here she is lowering her neck to sniff it.

Then she gets her funny, quirky side. See the tongue out her the side of her mouth? That is the cue for: "I want my treats."

Posing!  On a side note, I was pretty tired and worn out that day, we had had friends over that afternoon, and they had just left. That explains the messy hair. : )

Anyway, on the model side of things, Breyer doesn't have any Breyerfest News, or new models for that fact. However, they did have this cute printable drawing of SGT. Reckless on their Facebook.
